OurBlueDot is an exploratory atlas designed to make global public data approachable without hiding its uncertainty, provenance, or limits.

Why this exists

Maps invite comparison, but responsible comparison needs context. We connect every visual pattern to a direct answer, source, period, and plain-language methodology.

Privacy

OurBlueDot does not require an account. You can explore maps, layers, and country pages without signing in.

Analytics

The public production site may use Google Analytics 4, operated by Google LLC, to measure page views and how people move between pages. This helps us understand which atlas pages are useful. Analytics is off by default: the Google tag is not loaded, and analytics cookies are not set, until you accept.

If you accept, Google may process usage data such as page URLs, approximate location derived from IP address, and device or browser information. We use Google Consent Mode so advertising storage stays denied. We do not run Google Ads, AdSense, or other advertising tags, and we do not ask for or grant advertising consent.

Your choice is stored only in this browser. Declining does not change how the atlas works. You can accept, decline, or withdraw later on this page. Withdrawing consent stops analytics on later visits from this browser and deletes Google Analytics cookies this site can access.

Other data

This site does not create user accounts and does not show ads. Map tiles and public datasets are loaded to render the atlas. Questions about privacy can use the contact link below.
