Mobility indicators

Mobility statistics, mapped by country

Mobility layers describe how people and vehicles move, and at what human cost. Vehicle stocks, charging, passenger travel, and road deaths are published as separate series because they do not share one definition.

A country with many cars is not automatically a country with many electric vehicles. A country with high air travel is not automatically safer on the road.

What you can compare

Passenger cars per 1,000 people, electric vehicle sales share, public EV charging points, air and rail passengers per person, and road traffic death rates.

How to read safety and uptake

Road death rates are harm measures. EV sales share and chargers describe uptake of a technology. Travel intensity describes movement. Compare within a layer before combining stories across layers.
