What this means

Compare countries using World Happiness Report life-evaluation scores.

Higher reported life evaluation (rank 1 = darkest); lower reported life evaluation.

Methodology & source

Values are World Happiness Report Figure 2.1 Cantril ladder scores: three-year averages of nationally representative Gallup World Poll life evaluations on a 0-10 scale. The 2026 report rankings use 2023-2025 interviews. Country rows are joined by ISO 3166-1 alpha-3 after mapping published country names; territories without ISO3 are excluded. Map ranks are comparable-sample competition ranks among currently loaded countries, not the published World Happiness Report world rank. Figure 2.1 national averages are the public free download; Gallup World Poll microdata is not included.

World Happiness Report Figure 2.1 Cantril ladder scores (life evaluation, 0-10). Each year is a three-year average of nationally representative Gallup World Poll responses, not a single-year survey. WHR 2026 rankings use 2023-2025 interviews; panel years 2019-2025 are taken from the official Figure 2.1 workbook. Rows are joined by ISO 3166-1 alpha-3 after mapping WHR country names; North Cyprus and Somaliland Region are skipped because they have no ISO3. Kosovo is stored as XKX. Product ranks are comparable-sample competition ranks among loaded countries, not the published WHR world rank. Figure 2.1 national averages are the public free download; Gallup World Poll microdata is not included. Snapshot from https://files.worldhappiness.report/WHR26_Data_Figure_2.1.xlsx imported 2026-08-25. 155 ISO3 economies have at least one finite value in this extract. Fiji (FJI) has no observation in this release.
